PG Scholarship for SC/ST students for professional courses is an initiative of the University Grants Commission. The objective of the scholarship is to provide financial assistance to students from the underprivileged section of society and to provide them an opportunity to pursue their post-graduate level studies from Indian Universities/Institutions/Colleges in professional subjects like Engineering and Technology, Management, Pharmacy, etc.

The objective of the PG Scholarship 2022
The objective of the scheme is to provide financial assistance to 1000 students from the SC/ST category to provide them an opportunity to pursue their post-graduate level studies in professional subjects.
Benefits of PG Scholarship 2022
- PG scholarship for SC/ ST is beneficial for 1000 candidates.
- Students who are pursuing ME/MTech will get Rs.7800/-per month
- Students who are pursuing any other professional degree will get Rs.4500/- per month.
NOTE– The candidates pursuing a postgraduate course in professional subjects through correspondence or in Distance Education mode are not eligible to receive financial assistance under this scheme.

Eligibility Criteria for PG Scholarship 2022
To be eligible, an applicant must –
- belong to SC/ST category
- pursuing a professional course at the postgraduate level
- Studied in any of the following institutes/colleges/universities:
- Universities/Institutions/Colleges covered under section 2(f) and 12(b) of the UGC Act
- Deemed University covered under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, and eligible to receive grants-in-aid from the UGC
- University/Institute/College funded by Central/State Government
- Institute of National Importance

Application Process
- Visit the Official Website of the National Scholarship Portal
- In Applicant Corner select “Fresh Application”
- Read the instructions carefully and enter your Application Id, Password, and Captcha for Login.
- After logging in to your account select the Scholarship scheme and fill in the required details to apply for the scholarship.
- If you are a New User then click on the New Registration option.
- The instructions page will open on your screen.
- Tick mark the declaration.
- Click on the “Continue” option.
- Enter all of the details like entering a name, date of birth, mobile number, gender, email ID, bank details, etc.
- Enter the captcha code
- Click on the “Register” option.
- After registering your account you can log in and apply for the scholarship.
- After completing your application you will get a confirmation message to your registered email id & mobile number.
Terms and Conditions for Renewal
- Applicant needs to maintain the required attendance
- Applicants need to maintain the good academic score in the examination
- Applicant must have cleared all the examinations and will promote in the next year
Renewal Application Process
- Visit the official portal NSP.
- On the homepage, click on the “Renewal 2022” option given under the “Login” tab.
- On the next page, you have to fill in your data like Application ID, Password, and the code is given on that page.
- After filling in the information, candidates have to click on the “Login” tab.
- A renewal form will be displayed on your screen, enter all the information correctly and submit the form.

- The home page will open on your screen.
- On the Homepage click on Login.
- You need to select your year from the drop-down menu.
- A new page will open on your screen.
- Enter your application ID and password.
- Click on the Submit.
- The application status will be displayed on your screen

This scheme is meant only for SC/ST students. General category/OBC candidates are not eligible to apply under the scheme.
Are students belonging to SC/ST category who are pursuing post-graduation through correspondence/distance mode eligible for the award?
No, Candidates pursuing post-graduate courses in professional subjects through correspondence or in Distance Education mode are not eligible to receive financial assistance under this scheme.
Are awardees selected under this scheme eligible to draw contingency and HRA?
No. The awardees are only eligible to receive the scholarship amounts.
Are students of the eligible category who are pursuing post-graduation and are in the second year of study eligible to apply under the scheme?
No, Only students pursuing the first year of a post-graduate course during the current academic year are eligible to apply.
