The Government of Karnataka has launched the Karnataka Ganga Kalyana scheme. Through this scheme, the government is going to drill borewells or open wells with pumps. Karnataka Ganga Kalyana scheme
Karnataka Ganga Kalyana Yojana is an initiative of the Karnataka Minorities Development Corporation. Through this scheme, the beneficiaries will get irrigation facilities by digging borewells or digging open wells on agricultural land and installing pump sets and accessories. The government has allocated Rs 1.50 lakh and Rs 3 lakh for individual borewell projects.
This amount will be Rs 50000 for borewell drilling, pump supply, and electrification deposit. A subsidy of Rs 3.5 lakh will be provided to Bengaluru Urban, Bengaluru Rural, Ramanagara Kolar, Chikkaballapur, and Tumkur districts.
Apart from this, a subsidy of Rs 2 lakh will be given to other districts. These facilities will be provided by laying pipelines from water sources to farmer-owned land in nearby rivers and installing pump motors and accessories.

Cost Under Karnataka Ganga Kalyana Scheme
Under this scheme, the unit cost has been fixed at Rs 4 lakh for land up to 8 acres and Rs 6 lakh for land up to 15 acres. This entire cost will be considered a subsidy under the scheme. The government is going to provide proper irrigation facilities to the farmers by using perennial sources of water or by lifting water through pipelines. Only those farmers who belong to minority communities and are small or marginal farmers will be able to avail the benefits of this scheme.
If perennial water sources are not available, the corporation will provide loans to individuals for the construction of borewells at water points. The corporation is going to bear the total expenditure of 1.5 lakhs for the construction of borewells to promote agricultural activities.

The benefits are as follows-
- The government of Karnataka has allocated rupees 1.50 lakh and rupees 3 lakh for individual borewell projects.
- The amount provided to the beneficiaries can be used only for the borewell drilling, and pump supply, and Rs 50000 for the electrification deposit.
- The citizens residing in Bangalore urban, Bengaluru rural, Ramanagara Kolar, chikkaballapur, and Tumkur districts will get Rs. 3.5 lakh subsidy.
- Other district beneficiaries will get a 2 lakh subsidy.
What are the Eligibility Criteria?
- Applicants should be permanent residents of Karnataka State.
- Applicants should be small / very small tenant farmers.
- The applicant should belong to a religious minority community as defined in the Government Order.
- The age of the applicant should be between 18 to 55 years.
- Each beneficiary should have 1 acre 20 gunte (1 acre 50 cents) of an acre to 5 acres of dry land, in districts like Kodagu, Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Uttara Kannada, Chikkamagaluru, Shimoga, and Hassan, the minimum land should be 1 acre as the availability of land is very less.
- The annual income of the applicant’s family in rural areas is Rs. 96,000/- should not be exceeded.
